Bellator Class

~ Start Transmission ~
The Z'ron Empire, a vast and powerful realm. The Bellator class is one of the smaller though still powerful escourt crafts in the royal fleet of the Z'ron Empire. The Z'ron are an alien race, though still humanoid, their culture and technology is vastly different from ours.
The ship is not powered by anti-matter or a crystalline substance as many Federation ships are, but rather a gelatinous substance that runs throughout the entire ship. This substance is called Plasm, and it is far more than a power source. Plasm is a lifeform that flows through the ships, powering it and creating a friendly atmosphere for the Z'ron crew aboard the ship. The Plasm can do far more than purify air, it can also create a small bubble of atmosphere suited for alien guests aboard the craft. Plasm does offer some limited structural repair and defense to the ship, but it does require a crew of Bio-Engineers to maintain the craft.
Weapons systems aboard the Bellator are powered by crystalline energy. The energy source is a type of crystal known as Deutronium, so far this source of energy is only found on certain planets in the Z'ron Empire, however, it can be replicated without much difficulty.
The Bellator is primarily designed as a forward assault/escort cruiser/frigate or planetary patrol craft, with a large powerful cannon mounted on the aft and two high powered cannons mounted on each of the engine pods.
This ship is designed for FTL travel, but not with a FTL drive. It instead has intakes mounted on the aft of the ship that breathes in the tachyon particles released from larger vessels to tag along with them through warp.

So, what do you think? This is my first time attempting to create an entirely new alien species and ship. I'm working on the colors, part of me likes them... the other part doesn't. This ship actually came from an attempt at a starfighter. Not sure how it turned into this, but I'm glad it did. It was a very fun and unique challenge to create this ship. It's something completely out of the norm for me, and out of my comfort zone as far as building goes. (Hopefully though, it'll soon be IN my comfort range. I already have an idea for a Z'ron supercruiser/command ship.)

Okay, soo... there's this Star Wars ship class called the Bellator-class Star Dreadnought:
- http://fractalsponge.net/?p=155
...Aaand for a second I thought you or Dino or RMM or someone might've somehow pulled off building that monster, so I'm admittedly slightly disappointed.
However... this is one awesome ship. Easily the best shaping of your latest three, and superb greebling too.
I've got maybe two critiques. One, I don't really think I love the color scheme. Not that I have any alternative suggestions, so I'm unhelpful there.
And two, that part where it sorta dips inward on the underside of the middle connection section, I'd flip it with the thicker part right next to it. The proportions just don't look quite right as is.
Beyond that, gorgeous ship. Very well done, J-Red.

@ Arik - Come on man, you know I've never done anything Star Wars. Yet.
I hadn't noticed the thing with the dip, but thanks for pointing that out, that's something I may fix sometime.
@ S-H - Ah yes.... I neglected to mention that Istole that from you was inspired by your technique. I don't think I mentioned it anywhere, but the Exo-Force Robo-arms mounted on the front by the intakes are probably some sort of cannon.
THANK YOU. The colors was the thing I needed the help on the most! I'm really digging that blue color, may use that somehow... It still has that regal feel that I want, but you're right, it doesn't quite have an organic feel.... I don't know. Getting the two isn't necessarily going to be easy. My fourth race that I'm going to introduce, the X’ord’ah, are going to be a whole lot easier to color since they're supposed to be pretty much 100% organic. (Think the Formics from Ender's Game)

Ooooo... that's a beaut, right there. Awesome greebling/detailing job, though I'm a bit iffy on the position on the engine pods; maybe it's just me, but I feel they should be higher up. Other than that, though, fantastic work!
As for colors, my favorite would probably be the copper-based one S-H proposed; I do like the LDD copper color.

I'd vote for the copper too as my favorite, but I agree with J-Red that the blue probably fits the idea behind it better.
...And I clearly need to do more with the higher-graphics settings. S-H's images look gorgeous.

@ Mighty - Personally, I think the engine pods look fine where they're at. I do like the copper too... maybe a blend of the copper with the blueish?
@ Arik - I don't know how S-H did those with such high quality... I've tried upping the graphics... but it really doesn't seem to do anything.

The copper is AMAZING, but not very organic, as has been said.
This is a REALLY cool build! It's just so amazingly different, and just plain good looking!
I LOVE this design! I agree with Arik about the underside/slope location.
There's really not that much to say, this is AWESOME!
Also, NICE ideas behind this thing!

Loving the "organic" design without it looking like it was modeled after some plant or such as most "living" ships are, but rather still has an industrial/utilitarian feel to it. It's a cool mix.
And it just looks awesome.
