The Recolor Project
Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:38 pm
Introducing The Recolor Project!
That's my name for the hour or so that I spent going through some of my more recent ships and starbases and redoing the color scheme to this cool white, blue, and orange motif. I haven't formally posted a couple of the ships below yet, but I hope to get to that in the near future. Anyhoo, the first in line: the A-63 Magnus Starbase.
I built this one between building the O-14 Haven and the C-56 Command starbases. There is a connection point at the tip of each triangle where two A-63 modules can lock together to make a bigger base. One module can connect to three other modules. This allows enough modules to link together in a sort of honeycomb of large hexagons. I would have put up a picture, but my computer can't handle that many pieces.
The original color scheme for this and all the other models here was a silver and gold two-tone. I think this combo looks much better. Here are the rest of them:
Lightning-Class Starfighter
Euclidian-Class Search and Rescue Cruiser
C-56 Command Starbase
Centaurus-Class Heavy Cruiser
O-14 Haven Starbase
These are the ships that I haven't actually posted yet.
Homer-Class Deep Space Explorer
Exigo-Class Battleship (Exigo is Latin for "to decide" or "to finish")
Enjoy!

Just saying, I love that light blue+orange. Unusual the blue/orange/white, and very nice. And much better than how they used to look.

I agree with Ant, the new color scheme is really nice. I'm not saying the original one was bad, I liked it too.
The modular-ness of that first starbase is cool, and I like the shape of the Exigo.

Wow, nice recoloring, Spud! Love how sleek your ships and starbases are. I have to hand it to you, you especially have a knack for those starbases...works of art is what they are.
Keep up the good work!

Awesome! I really like the new color scheme; really reminds me of a certain college football team that I'm a fan of! I really like the Homer class, too! It's so sleek!
Do you have the .lxf for the Magnus Starbase posted anywhere? I really want to link some together to see how they look, and I think my laptop could handle it. If you can get me the .lxf, I could send you a few pics!

Soccergirl: Thank you! Currently I have no way upload .lxf files online. I've seen that there are a couple hosting sites that others use, but I'm not signed up for any of them. I think I might try to get the file on Brickshelf once I find out how to post files on the site.

Spud: Well, there's always the new Lego gallery. It looks a lot like the lab did, and you can use your old login, so that's always an option. I haven't used it personally, but I think someone on the forum did.

Really liking the new colors! Reminds me a bit of the Ice Planet Lego theme.

Everyone: I just put up for moderation the first few .lxf files from this creation on the new LEGO gallery. They should be ready for download in a day or so!

Soccergirl: They do look cool! Thanks for posting that! I wish I had a computer powerful enough to link together, like, 30 individual modules. I would probably crash LDD on my computer if I tried to open a single .lxf file that had even a few more than those 6.
Talmid: Is a jump gate a sort of circular machine that can open hyperspace portals? If it is, then yes, they kind of do look like a jump gate.
